Vale Kenny

Ken Rudge lived a life defined by quiet generosity, deep intellect, and an unwavering commitment to others. An engineer by profession and a lapidarian by passion, Ken brought both precision and artistry to everything he did. From his years in Malanda to his connection with Lake Tinaroo, he was a respected and much-loved presence in Far North Queensland.

What truly set Ken apart, however, was his extraordinary generosity. He was a major benefactor to a wide range of charitable causes, including education and vital community services. His support of Cairns State High School and the Royal Flying Doctor Service in Cairns reflected a man who believed deeply in opportunity, care, and the wellbeing of others. His legacy is not only in what he gave, but in the lives he quietly transformed.

It was a genuine honour to serve as Ken’s celebrant and to help tell his story. To stand with his family and community, and to reflect on a life so meaningfully lived, is a privilege I will carry with me. Ken’s legacy endures—in the institutions he supported, the people he inspired, and the lasting imprint of a life lived with purpose and heart.
